In one of the most exciting clashes of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan faced Sri Lanka in a high-stakes Super 8 encounter at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka. Today’s match drew huge attention as Pakistan needed a big win and a better net run rate to keep their semifinal hopes alive. 

Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan’s openers lit up the game with a powerful partnership. Sahibzada Farhanand Fakhar Zaman put on a stunning batting display, taking the score to 212 for 8. Farhan in particular was outstanding, playing a match-defining innings and dominating the Sri Lankan bowling attack. 

Sri Lanka responded with an aggressive chase, with captain Dasun Shanaka and other batters fighting hard, but they fell just short — finishing 207 for 6. In the end, Pakistan won the match by 5 runs. 

However, despite the victory on the field, Pakistan’s World Cup journey has ended as they couldn’t overcome New Zealand on net run rate — meaning both Pakistan and Sri Lanka are now eliminated from the tournament.
